Inside Kidemia September 2026: New Learning Features, STEAM Innovation and Back-to-School Updates

Something exciting is growing at Kidemia.

Every month, we will open our doors a little wider and share what is happening across the Kidemia community: the children learning and competing, the schools working with us, the new experiences we are building, the partners helping us create impact, and the ideas shaping what comes next.

Welcome to the first edition of Inside Kidemia.

Our mission is simple but ambitious: to help African children build the knowledge, skills, confidence and curiosity they need to thrive in the future.

And there is a lot to tell you about.

Looking Back: The Impact We Have Made

Our maiden Kidemia STEAM Awards 2026 showed us what can happen when children are given an opportunity to learn, compete, create and be celebrated.

564 students completed the competition, with children participating in the Kidemia Common Entrance Scholarship Examinations.

We celebrated outstanding students and schools, awarded prizes and, most importantly, created an experience that encouraged children to see excellence, creativity and problem-solving as things worth pursuing.

But the awards were never meant to be the finish line.

They were the beginning.

The lessons, feedback and experiences from this first edition are now helping us build better programmes, better technology and more opportunities for children.

Coming Up: The Innovator Challenge

One of the biggest lessons from the STEAM Awards was that children have incredible ideas but ideas become much more powerful when children are taught how to identify problems, develop solutions and communicate those solutions confidently.

That is why the Kidemia Innovator Challenge is returning with an improved experience.

s part of the challenge, participating students will be enrolled in the Virtual Kidemia Innovator Programme, where they will be guided through the basics of innovation, problem-solving, idea development, prototyping, and pitching their solutions confidently.

Students will strengthen key future-ready skills including critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, leadership, and innovation.

From waste and flooding to road safety, education, clean water, disability inclusion, food and community challenges, we want children to begin asking:

“What problem can I help solve?”

The programme will take them from identifying a problem to developing an idea and ultimately pitching their solution.

All participants who successfully complete the online training programme will receive a Certificate of Completion from Kidemia.

We are not simply looking for the child with the biggest idea.

We are building young problem-solvers. Click HERE to register your child/ward.

Back to School Just Got More Exciting

September means new classes, new subjects, new teachers — and sometimes a few back-to-school nerves.

So we have been working on something special.

Our new Back-to-School experience is being designed to help children prepare for their new classes in a way that feels less like revision and more like an adventure.

Children will be able to select their class, explore age-appropriate learning content, watch short videos, complete readiness activities and take challenges designed around what they should know as they begin the new school year.

And yes — there will be a leaderboard.

Because learning can be serious without always feeling serious.

Meet Kidi

There is also someone we would like you to meet.

Kidi is the new face of the Kidemia learning experience.

Kidi isn’t just a mascot.

He will become a companion children encounter throughout Kidemia — encouraging them through challenges, celebrating their wins, giving helpful tips and making the platform feel more playful and alive.

This is part of a much bigger direction for Kidemia.

We are building a learning environment children actually want to return to.

What If Learning Felt Like a Game?

Children can spend remarkable amounts of time trying to beat a level, improve a score or get to the top of a leaderboard.

We think some of that same energy can be brought into learning.

Over the coming months, Kidemia will gradually introduce more gamification across the platform.

Children will be able to earn points, collect rewards, gain extra lives, unlock time boosts, complete missions, climb leaderboards and celebrate milestones as they learn.

And we are designing these experiences for children across different classes — so whether a child is taking their first challenges or preparing for more advanced learning, there is something to work towards.

Behind the games is a serious goal:

More practice. More curiosity. More persistence. More learning.

And We’re Just Getting Started

Kidemia is becoming more than an educational platform.

We are building a community around children — bringing together parents, educators, schools, organisations, professionals and friends who believe African children deserve access to opportunities that prepare them for the future.

And that is where you come in.

Become a Kidemia Partner

You don’t have to build an education platform to help change a child’s future.

You can help us reach another child.

You can sponsor access for children who otherwise may not have it.

You can introduce Kidemia to a school or organisation.

You can support a STEAM programme.

You can volunteer your expertise.

You can open a door.

Or you can simply tell another parent about what we are building.

We are inviting parents, professionals, organisations and friends of Kidemia to become part of this journey.

Because preparing Africa’s next generation for the future is bigger than any one organisation.

It takes a community.

Come Build the Future With Us

Explore Kidemia. Introduce a child. Partner with us. Sponsor an opportunity. Share our story.

And come back next month; because there is much more ahead.
